Macintosh is a great platform for working with graphics, however there are very few free graphic editors for the Mac OS. One that I did find is BME, so if you don't have a program like Photoshop, then you can give it a try.
This program will allow you to re-size your images, crop out unwanted space, re-name, color adjust, vertical/horizontal flip, and more.
Go to: Download BME -- When the page opens, scroll down until you see the "BME" link; this is about a 1.8 MB file, and takes about 10 minutes on a 28.8 modem (under 2 minutes with DSL).
After downloading, doubleclick the "Install BME" icon, then allow your system to re-start. There are instructions for using BME under Help > BME Guide.
